No. Yourself is the classic, but you can write to anyone: a parent, a child, a friend, a partner. At weddings, guests write to the couple.

You choose the date we mail it, and we write that date on the envelope at the table. In the continental US it arrives 7 to 10 days after it is posted. If it needs to be there by a certain day, choose a mailing date up to two weeks before, so it is received on time. A year from the day you write it is the tradition.

No. You seal it yourself at the table, with real wax, and it stays sealed until the person you addressed it to opens it.
